Saturday 3rd September  2011
Beginners 2 Shooting stars cake workshop Cost of class $340 +gst 1 day class

9.30am -6pm  This class is now full.


In this class you will decorate a round chocolate mud cake. You will learn how to level your cake, ganache your cake in preparation for covering with sugar paste. Sugar paste wired stars will be made to decorate your cake. We will learn how to make sugar paste cut outs and apply to the cake. Please bring an apron and wear comfortable enclosed shoes.
A light lunch and refreshments are provided.



Sunday 4th September  2011 Beginners 3 Bow cake workshop. Cost of class $340 

+ gst .1 day class 9.30am -6pm This class is now full.

In this class you will learn how to level your cake, ganaching your cake in preparation for covering with sugar paste. Sugar paste ribbons will be made to decorate your cake with a show topping bow, placed on top. You will learn how to make sugar paste cut outs and how to apply to the cake.
A light lunch will be provided and refreshments . Please bring an apron and wear comfortable enclosed shoes.


Monday 5th of September 2011 Miniature Wedding Cake workshop 10-6pm Cost of class $440 +  gst Total to pay $484

Learn how to carve and shape allready baked 6 miniature cakes,2 square, 2round and 2 heart shaped cakes.cakes prior to covering with sugar paste. Miniature cakes are very popular in the bridal services and can be tailor made to the bridal couples requirements.

Tuesday 6th and Wednesday 7th of September 2011 Intermediate 9  Mad Hatters/ Topsy Turvey or Wonky Cake 10-6pm Cost of Class $720  + gst Total to pay $792 one place available.


You will learn how to carve and get the correct angles and securely stack the cakes. Learn how to carve the cake , so that it presents beautifully. A fabulous designed cake that can be decorated in so many ways.You  will learn how to create a striped effect ensuring a balanced and smooth covering and create a beautiful sugar paste bow on top of the cake.A light lunch will be provided and refreshments Please bring an apron and wear comfortable enclosed shoes.

Friday 9th of September  2011 Beginners 1. Baking cupcake class 10-6pm

Cost of class $340 + gst Total to pay $374 This class is now full.

In this workshop you will make and bake 6 vanilla cupcakes and then decorate them to take home. A moist and delicious vanilla cup cake recipe will be used and then using sugar paste to decorate. Embossed rolling pins and crimpers will be shown how to use to achieve beautiful effects and small decorative rolled roses and cut outs 3D butterflies. A light lunch and refreshments will be provided. Please bring an apron and wear comfortable enclosed shoes.

Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th of September 2011 Intermediate 8 .Tiffany Cake workshop Cost of class $650 + gst 10-6pm. 2 day class This class is now full.  
A 2 tier square stacked cake finished with a classic Tiffany Bow on top .In this 2 day workshop you will learn how to carve and ganache 2 square cakes. Learn how to colour your sugar paste and then cover the ganached cakes with sugar paste , creating nice sharp edges.The use of stacking the cakes with dowels will be shown how to make a show stopping bow looped bow.A light lunch will be provided and refreshments Please bring an apron and wear comfortable enclosed shoes.

Cost of class $320 + Total to pay $352  gst one place available.

In this class we will learn how to make modelling sugar paste and then model animals . We will learn how to safely construct the figurines and make them with colourful colours and designs.We will learn how to model a elephant and a cute teddy bear and learn how to make a travel quilted  blanket and ABC Building blocks.These will then be arranged on a cake board/plaque to take home.

Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14 th and Thursday 15th of September 2011
 Advanced 2 Class. Wedding Cake workshop. 10- 5pm each day

This class is now full.


This class is aimed at students who want to take their cake decorating skills to the next level to wedding cakes. A 2 tier round stacked cake will be made.
You will be already experienced in decorating cakes with sugar paste and have learnt how to ganache and cover your cakes with sugar paste.
Sugar flowers will also be made with decorative leaves.

You will also be shown how to stack your cakes safely, ensuring a well presented cake. Basic piping will be used as well as decorative details.
Fresh flowers and how to display them will be discussed.
The placement of sugar flowers will also be demonstrated.
A light lunch and refreshments will be provided each day.
You will then take your boxed wedding cake home on the final day of the course. Please bring an apron and wear comfortable shoes.

This wedding cake workshop will enable you to understand the different stages and the timing of the stages in the baking, ganaching and decoration and assembling of the cakes. The transporting and packaging of wedding cakes will also be discussed. All students will be given a folder with a comprehensive information from the design, timing and planning of the wedding cake to the delivery and set up.

Tuesday 20th of September 2011
Beginners 5  Hand bag class 9.30am -6pm. Cost of class $340 +  gst Total to pay $374. 1 day class . This class is now full.


In this class you will learn how to carve and shape  your cake, ganaching your cake in preparation for covering with sugar paste. We will learn how to create a quilted effect make an edible zip and learn how to make the designer logo.

You will also learn how to make sugar paste cut outs and how to apply them to the cake.
A light lunch and refreshments are provided. Please bring an apron and wear comfortable enclosed shoes.
This class is only available if you have completed either beginners 2 or 3 class, as you will need to have learnt the stages of preparing your cake for ganaching and covering your cake with sugar paste before advancing to this class.


Wednesday 21st of September 2011 10- 5pm.  Royal Icing Basic Introduction

Piping class. Suitable for all.Cost of class $320+ gst Total to pay $352.
One place available.

Have you ever wanted to learn how to pipe? In this class we will learn how to pipe/write , how to colour royal icing , embellish and how to brush embroidery all with royal icing.We will make fresh royal icing as well as use the commercial readily available .We will use parchment piping bags as well a s the coupling system.Learn the tricks of the trade and see your skills develope.
A light lunch will be provided and refreshments . Please bring an apron and wear comfortable enclosed shoes


Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th of September 2011 Intermediate 4 Noahs Ark cake workshop 10-6pm  . Cost of class $630 + gst Total to pay $693.
This is a 2 day class. One place available.

Learn how to carve and shape a 3D cake and ganache the cake. Cover with sugar paste and learn how to create a sea effect with royal icing, model an assortment of animals from modelling paste and be amazed at the decorative detailing.You will be creating a work of art. Please bring an apron and wear comfortable  enclosed shoes.A light lunch and refreshments will be provided. on both days.

Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th of September  2011
Beginners 13 Sugar Flower workshop 10-6pm. Cost of class $580 + gst Total to pay $638. Suitable for all. 2 day class 2 places available.


This class will take place over 2 days. In this class you will make and take home an arrangement of sugar flowers.The flowers made will be roses, lilies, frangipanes,arum lilies, foilage and leaves.Flower handouts and flower paste recipes will be available at the end of the class. The flowers made, will be displayed on a dummy cake to take home.
A light lunch and refreshments will be provided on both days. Please bring an apron and wear comfortable enclosed shoes.

I am based in Daisy Hill south of Brisbane approx. 40 minutes from the Gold Coast and just over and I hour from the Sunshine coast.I am just of exit 24 of the Pacific highway, very close to my favourite store Ikea!

Payments can be made by internet banking,  payment by cheque made payable to Contemporary Cakes and Classes or a money order available to buy at Australia post, I do not take credit or eftpos cards.

Gift vouchers are also available to purchase.

If a class is cancelled, a full refund of the class will be made , or if you choose , transferred to another class to the same value. No refunds or transfers will be given for classes not attended or cancelled . Please send someone to take your place.
